Hello everyone! Hope you are well and enjoying this great weather.
I want to share my latest health and fitness experience with you as it’s something I only do if I actually believe in the process.
Last month I was contacted by a PR company who are working with the lovely Davina McCall to promote her new weight-loss website called GetFitwithDavina.com. ‘Another celebrity doing fitness stuff’ I hear you cry. I know what you’re thinking, but, you have to admit that Davina has been working hard at helping hundreds of thousands of people get fit for years now, so this isn’t just a get rick quick scheme.
Davina herself said,
“If someone had said to me 15 years ago that I would be as well known for my fitness as I would be for my presenting I would have laughed! But here I am, loving being fit and whilst doing that, loving getting you all fit too! I feel like it’s a journey we have all been on together sharing your pics and sessions on the way and GetFitwithDavina.com is the next stage. So many of you were asking about effective long lasting meaningful weight loss and I always said it was a two pronged attack – healthy eating and exercise – well this is where you get it. GetFititwithDavina.com gives you a healthy personalised eating plan and training schedule (I love a schedule!) and now we’ve got somewhere on the site where you can hang out and share photos, ideas, tips and giggles! Maybe you have tried to sort out your health and fitness for a while on your own but believe me – if YOU can’t, WE can together AND dare I say it you might even enjoy it!”
That’s honesty, right?
Bear with me and let me explain how this works in my own words, and with some professional input…
As someone who has tried, and failed, to stick with healthy eating programmes before, I am always half tempted and half skeptical of any new idea, however, it’s obvious that a lot of thought and research has gone in to creating GetFitwithDavina.com. For a start, the site helps you to create a personalized plan for health AND fitness. Not only can you plan all of your meals and log them on the site, you can also access hundreds of exercise sessions (just 7 minutes each) from the comfort of your own living room, so no trips to the gym required, unless you want to!
One of the features I really like about the site are the social forums. There are lots of different ones set up depending on what your health and fitness goals are. For instance, you can chat with people near and far, those who want to lose some weight and those who have bigger goals, first time exercisers and more experienced ones. The one thing everyone seems to have in common is the drive to succeed. They are also extremely supportive of each other, which I know is very welcome when you’re having a tough week and feel as though you haven’t achieved what you hoped to.
Some info on the philosophy around the site:
‘A day on the programme typically involves 3 workouts (of 7 minutes each, so a max of just 21 minutes) and 5 meals.
The nutrition plan is created with Davina’s nutritional Guru Max Tomlinson, and follows Davina’s philosophy of eating well and cutting out the bad stuff like processed foods and sugar.
The user can select a meal from one of Davina’s 200 delicious recipes from the site, an item from the Out and About Food guide – a curated list of meals from high street outlets that fit within its nutrition principles – or a meal put together by the user from the carefully selected list of healthy ingredients.’
Some examples below…
Each day users are given a Calorie Plus Credit (CPC) allocation to use over five meals which is completely personalised to each user based on their Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) and activity level. The unique scoring system is based upon the Glycaemic Load/Glycaemic Index (GL/GI) nature of the foods as well as the nutritional value of the food and the number of calories they contain.
The site also features a completely personalised fitness programme created by Davina’s fitness expert Ed Lumsden. The programme is designed to create the most effective session possible for any person of any ability rather than plugging away at the same old exercises that don’t get results. This means high intensity, varied, targeted workouts with perfect technique and the system keeps track of exactly what the user is doing and adapts to help them stay on track at a level that is right for them. All activity is controlled from the super simple Fitness Dashboard. The fitness programme can also uniquely be used together with Davina’s bestselling 5WeekFit and 7 Minute Fit workout DVDs. At the end of each week, Davina asks the user to weigh-in and gives them a progress report to keep them on target.’
So OK, that’s a bit of a sales pitch, but the only way to see what the site is all about is to have a look. I will be honest and say that I haven’t done a full week on there yet. No excuses, just honesty. I will however be tracking my food, trying out the exercises, and updating you on my progress.
I would love to know if you have either joined the site already or are thinking of joining. You can be my support and I’ll gladly be yours!
