Six weeks of Locking & Loading

6 weeks ago I told you about a nutrition programme I’d signed up for with Lock & Load Strength & Fitness. Today I’m doing a review of the programme, my progress and the next steps.

So, as I mentioned in my earlier post, the programme I’ve been doing was tailored to me and my goals. Prior to signing up with Lock & Load, I had been managing my food in a very different way, so when the awesome Jay went through everything with me and set my macros (specific amounts of fat, protein and carbohydrates), I had a minor panic! It seemed like SO MUCH FOOD! After 2 years of eating in quite a strict way, this felt like someone had opened the doors to Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory and said I could take whatever I wanted!!

I know what you’re about to read will probably make you say something like ‘yeah right’, but I promise it’s true… I have really struggled to eat the volume of food needed to hit my macros. I am my own worst enemy so the last six weeks haven’t been easy.

This is where I have to tell you how great Jay has been. His enthusiasm is never-ending! I’ve had a number of wobbles, and I don’t just mean my thighs, haha! Every time I’ve felt like I was struggling Jay has been there to listen and encourage me, and get me back on track. Total superstar!

So, yes, the food hasn’t been easy, but it is definitely worth sticking with. I have a lot more energy now, especially mid afternoon when I used to get that tired slump feeling. I’ve also noticed a change in my sleep pattern. I don’t seem to need as much as I did, and can get going quicker in the mornings. The one thing that hasn’t moved as quickly as I would like, because I’m ridiculously impatient with myself, is my weight. However, considering the extra amount of food/calories I’m eating, I haven’t gained any weight. What I have noticed is a change in the way my clothes fit. I have lost a few inches and that is without doing much exercise, not for want of trying but we all have busy periods in our lives, and I’m going through one of those right now. All in all I can actually see improvements, and I am really happy with that.

I am (obviously) continuing with the programme as I have learned so much in such a short space of time, and know there’s plenty more to come, as well as knowing I will start shifting the weight in the right direction while still eating really well. What’s not to love??
