Lock & Load to Learn & Live Well

So we’re three weeks in to my nutrition plan with Lock&Load Strength and Fitness, which means it’s time for a bit of an update. There’s some background on the overall plan in my earlier posts.

The first couple of weeks on the plan were a little bit tough, as I had to basically undo everything I had been doing for the previous 2 years. My trainer, Jay, set my macros at what I initially thought were unrealistic amounts, only due to my previously restricted diet. If you think healthy eating is straightforward then I’d like to say I agree, but it’s also an education which you need to invest time in to. When you get it right it’s great, but getting to that stage doesn’t happen overnight. Not for me anyway. That’s not a bad thing though. As someone once said to me, you don’t gain weight overnight, so you’re not going to lose it overnight, and when I say weight I really mean fat.

Anyway, back to the plan. So I was struggling to hit my macros as I had quite a high amount of carbs, which I’m not complaining about, but it wasn’t working for me. I spoke to Jay and after some much needed counselling and encouragement, he got me back on track! My amounts have been slightly amended and now feel much more achievable. I don’t mean to sound vague by not including amounts, but what I need to eat and what you need to eat will be very different. We all have different goals we want to achieve, which is why speaking to Jay and getting his professional help has been invaluable. He has tailored my plan to suit me, my health issues, and to get me on the right track to reach my goals.


Going to a gym can be scary, and the thought of a personal trainer can seem silly and a little bit self-indulgent. BUT that’s where I want to tell you that it doesn’t have to be scary, and it isn’t self-indulgent to get professional support and input.
