Monday 10th February – Mega training, mega pain, mega PCOS annoyance!

Are you as glad as me that Monday is over??

So I didn’t include Saturday’s workout in my last post, and I know how much you love to read what I’ve been up to! 
As I spoil you, here’s what happened: 

Saturday’s Workout 

Farmer walks and Deadlift combinations – 5kg per side
3 sets of 5 reps with walks in between sets x 2 
3 sets of 6 reps with walks in between sets x 2 
3 sets of 8 reps with walks in between sets x 2

10 reps per arm (bar only) x 4 sets

High rep leg press
4 sets of 20 reps x 120kg 

Hammer and tyre
40 seconds work x 2 sets
Alternating with slam ball – 20 slams 

Boxing combination

This frame is very similar to what I use for the farmer walks, and it really hurts my hands!

I honestly think that’s one of the toughest sessions I’ve done to date. I have a sick liking for the intensity of the deadlifts now! The grappler is horrible and really tires your arms out quickly. The leg press is now a firm favourite; the hammer and tyre is OK but I hate the slam ball. And of course you know I LOVE the boxing! 

After the mammoth session I had a sports massage to work on my chunky calves and dodgy knee! All I can say is WOW! It was pretty sore, but has helped already. My lower back is much better and I feel a lot looser. I think it’s something that’s going to have to happen fairly regularly to keep me feeling normal. When I say ‘me’, I clearly mean my back and legs! We all now I’m not ‘normal’…..

I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned the chunky calves before so here goes. Since I started training with Chris, my calf measurements have hardly changed, so we have been looking at ways to improve this naturally. My measurements everywhere else have really improved, but the calves seem to be more stubborn than me! 

So as you will know, one of my big PCOS symptoms is nasty acne flare ups. I am currently in the grip of a nasty one on the right side of my jaw. It’s not pretty. I’m nearly 31 (majorly depressing!!) so still getting these flare ups is embarrassing. I know I’m not the only woman to suffer with this sort of acne-ness, but it can be so frustrating. I’ve tried so many products but no matter how expensive they are, nothing fully works. 

In fact, if you have any hints or tips on a product that has worked for you, I would love to hear from you!

  1. What other symptoms do ou have for PCOS? I think I might have it, I have insanely bad hormonal acne (only yasmin and spironolactone help it, both which reduce the male hormone adolsterone), irregular to no periods when I'm not on the pill, and an apple shaped body. I don't know whether to get tested or not!

    SOunds like a pretty intense workout as well! Xx


  2. Hi, so my main symptoms are skin flare ups, irregular periods, weight issues, mood swings and self esteem problems.
    No harm in asking the doctor to do some tests for you. Better to ask and know!
