July – December
If you have been reading my blog since I started it in July then firstly thank you! You will have a fair idea what I have been up to for the last six months, so here’s a bit of a recap:
As cheesy as it sounds, I can honestly say that my life really has changed in the last six months, and most definitely for the better.
Once I made the decision to fully overhaul my food intake, I contacted Chris and asked for his help. He was brilliant and gave me so much advice and guidance on where to start. I started this blog at the very beginning of July and have been detailing everything that has happened.
As a reminder here is my first post: http://fightingthefear2013.blogspot.co.uk/2013/07/monday-1st-july.html
It’s crazy reading back over old posts and finally seeing the change in myself. When Chris initially suggested I train with him I of course freaked out! However, as he has proven over and over to me, he was extremely positive and patient and told me he would help me. This is an extract from a blog post from July where I was freaking out about training:
I’m also terrified of making an idiot of myself. I don’t need any help with that, I’m pretty good doing it by myself! I also don’t want people to know what I’m doing in case it doesn’t work out. Of course I know what Chris’ answer to that will be as he already said it in one of his really positive responses to my word vomit: ‘With my help, failing simply doesn’t happen Clare’. He then went on to say: ‘I will help you regardless of anything…Take it out of your head that this isn’t going to work, this Clare, is where it ALL CHANGES’
Reading that back now makes me smile as he has been true to his word. He has helped me so much in such a short space of time and made me positive about everything moving forward. I now like going to the gym. Back in July I couldn’t even imagine walking in to one. I now voluntarily tell people how great the gym is. Me! I try and encourage people to come with me and see how much fun it is! If you had told me I would be doing this earlier in the year I would have laughed at you.
If you are looking for a gym that is not the usual, boring treadmill and exercise bike poser place, then check out Elite Performance. It’s a no nonsense, get on with it place, and I honestly wouldn’t want to train anywhere else now.
I am now thinking of goals to set myself for 2014 and I am excited about it. I want to get healthier, stronger and much, much fitter, and I know that with Chris’s help I will do it all. I’m not going to put too much pressure on myself (well I’ll try not to…), but I know the goals should push me and be just a little bit scary, so that’s what they will be!
I want to take this opportunity to say a HUGE THANK YOU to Chris for putting up with me for the last six months. I know I have been a royal pain in the ass, and moan at him throughout all of my sessions, but I am extremely grateful to him for all his support, encouragement and guidance so far. I am very happy to be training with him and am really excited to see what we can achieve together next year.
I have also made some fantastic friends through the gym who have been extremely supportive, and I am so lucky to have met them.
Right now 2014 is looking great!
