I thought it would be a good idea to do a bit of a review of 2013, in 2 parts, as this year has really been split.
January – June
To be fair I have a shocking memory so this will be a pretty short overview of the first six months!
The main event of the first part of the year was turning 30! My wonderful Mum made this gorgeous triple decker chocolate cake for me. It was pretty damn amazing. Oh and yes, there are 30 candles on there!
I suppose turing the big 30 did set me thinking seriously about my health and lack of fitness, but I was still very unsure of where to start. I did initially contact Chris back in March for some advice on nutrition. At the time he was very helpful made lots of suggestions on what I should do to try and help with the IBS and PCOS, but as it sounded so drastic I basically ignored his advice. Looking back now I know that was foolish, but I also know I wasn’t ready to take on such a big change at that time. I wasn’t at enough of a ‘rock bottom’ place.
By May I was really suffering with lower back pains, so I went to a Pilates class for about 10 weeks. It kind of helped but I did struggle with it. During that time Chris did contact me a couple of times to see how I was getting on. I was pretty impressed he remembered me to be honest. I told him about the Pilates and how I had been making small changes with food, and even then he was really encouraging.
By the end of June I was feeling pretty fed up with everything. My PCOS was flaring up badly, my skin was a mess, I was suffering with lots of mood swings and ‘low’ periods, and my weight was the highest it’s been in a long time. So I decided to bite the bullet and contact Chris about doing a proper food overhaul.
And that’s the end of the first part of 2013…
